Glenfiddich 14 Year Old Bourbon Barrel Reserve is a new, permanent addition to Glenfiddich’s core range ($50, 43 percent ABV, 86 proof).

BourbonBlog.com is told that it is a “mash-up of Bourbon flavor profile (aged exclusively in American oak) with a Scotch finish – a Bourbon heart with the soul of single malt.”

For 14 years, the whisky it is aged in ex-bourbon casks. While many scotches spend time in these bourbon barrels at some point along their way to maturity, the finishing process on this whisky is unique as it then spends four months in deeply charred new American oak barrels from Kentucky.

BourbonBlog.com will bring you more details this week.
