Major Announcement in Bourbon Theft Coming Next week from Franklin County Sheriff

Franklin County Sheriff Pat Melton tells BourbonBlog.com today that there will be a major announcement regarding a “bourbon theft” coming next week. While Melton can’t discuss the specifics of this announcement today, it seems that it may be related to more than just the recent Wild Turkey theft in March

Could it also be related to the Pappy Van Winkle theft? Possibly…

There is more than just speculation among among much of the bourbon world that suspect Gibert Thomas Curtsinger, who was harboring 5 stolen barrels of Wild Turkey Bourbon, could indeed be the same thief or could somehow be tied to the Pappy Van Winkle theft of 2013. Curtsinger (pictured below) was a 20+ year employee of Buffalo Trace Distillery and reportedly worked at Buffalo Trace during the Pappy theft.

The barrels of Wild Turkey Bourbon are said to be worth between $20,000 to $30,000. Listen to our podcast interview with Melton from March here).

In October of 2013, $26,000 worth of Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon was reported stolen from Buffalo Trace Distillery.
