Professor’s Island Coffee, Cocktail Tribute to Actor Russell Johnson

As fans say goodbye to actor Russell Johnson, Professor Roy Hinkley on Gilligan’s Island, BourbonBlog.com creates this cocktail in his honor.

A few months back, BourbonBlog.com’s Tom Fischer appeared at a festival with Gilligan’s Island’s own Mary Ann, actress Dawn Wells, who talked about the 50 year anniversary of Gilligan’s Island this year (watch video below).

The Professor’s Island Coffee

1.5 oz Malibu Rum
1 oz Kahlua
2 dashes, Chocolate Bitters
Fill with half-Half

Instructions:

Glass: Highball

Garnish: Coffee Sugar Rim*

*Make by using 3 parts ground coffee to 1 part sugar. Use the best coffee one can find.

The idea is that the Professor always showed up to fix the problem- and it was like he had coffee in his veins! Once he even made a battery recharger from a coconut shell, but for some reason couldn’t seem to fix the hole in the boat.
