Rooftop Pool at Hotel Monteleone, no one wants Tales of the Cocktail to end on the last day
All Good Things Must Come to an End…So there I sat, worn from four amazing days of seminars, tastings and networking at Tales of the Cocktail.
The rooftop pool at Hotel Monteleone, the final stand – Brand Ambassadors, Bartenders, Writers, Mixologists, Chefs, Volunteers, Owners, Aficionados, Apprentices, Beverage Consultants and whoever else I have left out. Fancy titles truly lose their place here with everyone clad in swimming gear. At this place you held the distinction of ‘closing down the bar-’ through proper pacing or sheer determination you were able to bear witness to the last sunset of Tales of the Cocktail 2010.
Tequila and Fernet Branca were distributed via water pistols. People enjoyed fine cigars and Rums. Stella Artois out of a plastic cup? Only poolside, thank you.
This year some battled against the croup – a Southernism describing a bodily ill where one loses their voice and energy. I was one of these unfortunate souls and attribute it to alternating between the humid heat of NOLA in July and the dry cold of hotel rooms. I will admit, laid out at the watering hole, I felt like a Nile crocodile. Never mind me as I’m just drawing energy for the 10 hour trip home.
Some buffalo wings were graciously brought by one of the participants for the group (good play, man.) The human orange (literally- a man in an orange suit) cannonballed the crowd.
