To the host – thanks for the fun the past few weeks, it was quite enjoyable to see who turned out the votes early on.

And the term ‘Straight’ for bourbons has nothing to do with location and numerous bourbons cannot be bought in most liquor stores. Why limit the options? Please pour yourself another glass, take a deep breath, find a good book about whisk(e)y and enjoy. Even better, see if a local bar hosts tastings and start attending – you will find that a lot of what is said by service staff is often not the entire story.

Wow! So much anger about a fun contest. Maybe you should take the list of 64 varieties add expand your list of brands to try. I hope they do something similar next year, but I wouldn’t with comments like:
“Your blog sucks!!” – I am sure your blog is awesome, please post a link to it. “Neither…are Straight Bourbons..KY” – Bourbon does not need to be made in KY, so your comment is the joke.
Urquell39 – naming yourself a crappy beer on a whisky site is like taking a knife to a gun fight.

What a total and complete joke this turned out to be. Neither of the two finalists are Straight Bourbons. Because neither are made in KY. What a total scam! Neither of the two finalists can even be bought in most US liquor stores! So most of the US has no access at all to either of these two spirits. It is fitting that neither actually won. Because neither even deserved to be in the final four! JOKE!

Total Nonsense, shore up your webserver, database server and code before you start a project like this. Don’t change the rules in mid stream, and for sure answer complaints.

And GEEPS13, you are clearly and obviously a tool. You know it, and I know it, and everyone who observed the process knows it. I voted multiple times, perhaps even 100 times for Garrisons. I admit it. Your transparent ploy at, “Sorry, could only vote a few times,” while posting numerous such comments reveals your hand. I find you lacking.

None-the-less, I hope you and I and all the voters get to try many of the unique bourbons from this contest and enjoy each of their qualities. I look forward to many pleasant occasions with Garrisons.

Garrison Brothers is my favorite. I had a great time participating in the tournament. I voted hundreds of times for Garrison Brothers – by hand – much like they make there Bourbin. Hats off to whomever at Breckenridge that programmed the computer to vote – and I have NO doubt it was programmed. I’m confident the Breckenridge folks would acknowledge it if forced to, but I’ll admit to multiple votes for Garrison by hand.

I hope to try Breckenridge someday, and I sure hope it is good. I know Garrisons is great, in my biased opinion, even as good as Blantons and Four Roses. If Breckenridge sucks, I will be so upset that they won by unethical methods, and have no claim to quality or loyal following. I know without a doubt that Garrisons has a growing loyal fan base that is due to the incredibly delicious nectar they produce.

What a day! Voted for 20 hours & made 8 barrels of Texas Bourbon. Had fun voting! In 36 months I’ll grab my whiskey thief & head out to the aging barns, given them a taste & see if they have aged properly. If so, these 8 barrel will be placed in the mellowing barn & used for the next release….as many aging barrels in the barns, these 8 barrels have notes of what was going on @ Stillhouse the day they were filled….it will bring a smile to face when I taste these 8. Thanks for all the support! Drink Texas Bourbon.
